Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este, the so-called event where the Bavarian brand has presented its new coupe, the renewed BMW 8 Series. The number 8 for BMW is the perfect blend of sportiness, luxury and elegance, as demonstrated In 1989 presenting the first of its series, the E31 chassis.
The BMW 8 Series E31 was built between 1989 and 1999 and was a two-door coupe with eight- and twelve-cylinder engines. In total, 30,621 units were produced, and there was a prototype named M8 with a 6-liter V12 engine producing 550 horses, which came to be called the "Ferrari Killer". However, it only reached the prototype label.
The new coupe has a much more aggressive silhouette than what has been seen so far in BMW designs, with a chrome grille wider and sharper than in the current versions and LED headlights with sharp lines, plus two large Air intakes on both sides sufficient to cool the brakes.
On the side we can see a stylized and elongated silhouette, with a design, frankly, very German, as well as a huge 21-inch wheels. In the rear we find rear headlamps of, we suppose, OLED type - just like the BMW M4 GTS -, the Bavarian brand in the middle, two cooling exits for the wheels and brakes and two other outputs of Chrome exhaust.
The interior is focused on sportsmanship and luxury. With a minimalist design, it emphasizes a huge central console in which we find the lever of the automatic change and in the upper part, the multimedia screen for the infotainment system. A revamped system with a modern graphical interface as you can see in the video.
The seats, designed in carbon fiber, follow the interior line. The perfect definition of this new BMW 8 Series is minimalistic, luxurious and at the same time sporty. At the moment it is only a prototype, but it sets the basis for what BMW will discover to us over the next year.
